Kristersson: About 280 people were arrested last year alone
Stockholm, Jan. 12 (Hibya) — Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that serious criminals hiding abroad are being caught one by one.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson shared data on determined operations targeting members of criminal networks who fled abroad to evade Swedish justice.
Delivering a clear message to criminals, Kristersson said: “To those hiding abroad from Swedish justice, I want to say this: you are not safe anywhere. Swedish serious criminals are being arrested one by one in other countries. Since 2022, the number of arrests abroad has doubled. About 280 people were arrested last year alone.”
Referring to the details of the latest operation, Kristersson said: “In December 2025, a central figure linked to the Foxtrot criminal network was arrested in Iraq. He is suspected of various serious crimes, including numerous cases of incitement to murder. In connection with this, another individual was also arrested.”
Emphasizing that these successes were achieved thanks to international solidarity, Kristersson concluded: “This is the result of the intensive work of the Swedish police, prosecutors, and enhanced cooperation with Iraq.”
