Lahbib: More than 220,000 people have been evacuated
Brussels, July 26 (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib announced that more than 220,000 people have been evacuated due to the ongoing wildfires in France and that emergency reserve teams from the European Union have been deployed to the affected area.
European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib made a statement regarding the wildfires affecting France.
In a post on social media, Lahbib said: "More than 220,000 people have been evacuated as wildfires sweep across France."
Lahbib stated that rescEU teams operating under the European Union's emergency reserve are on the ground to support France, adding that teams from Portugal, Sweden, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Croatia are working alongside French crews in the Gironde region.
Lahbib added: "France is not alone."
