Lahbib: The number of displaced people worldwide decreased in 2025
Brussels, June 20 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib announced that the number of displaced people worldwide declined in 2025 for the first time in a decade.
In her remarks on the occasion of World Refugee Day, European Union Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stated that this decrease indicates the effectiveness of protection mechanisms, humanitarian assistance efforts, and long-term solutions.
Emphasizing that the EU stands in solidarity with 117 million forcibly displaced people and the communities hosting them, Lahbib highlighted the importance of maintaining humanitarian support.
