Lahbib: The threats Europe faces are complex and often interconnected
Brussels, April 3 (Hibya) – European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib attended the European Volunteer Centre Spring Congress.
In her speech, Commissioner Lahbib stated that the threats facing Europe are complex and often interconnected.
She noted that communities are being hit increasingly by extreme weather events, flash floods, wildfires, and heatwaves with unprecedented frequency and intensity.
“Our societies are also more vulnerable. Information we share online or on social media can be misused to harm us,” she warned.
Lahbib added, “We are focusing on concrete, targeted, and operational actions to support our member states. We raise awareness among citizens and work with the private sector and across our societies to build trust and responsibility.”
