Lazzarini: More than 70 percent of our schools in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged
New York, September 2 (Hibya) – The UNRWA Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, stated that more than 70 percent of schools in Gaza had been destroyed or damaged.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini noted that the longer children are out of school, the higher the risk of a lost generation, which fuels anger and extremism.
Lazzarini pointed out that more than 70 percent of schools in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged and added:
"If there is no ceasefire, the likelihood of children being exploited, such as through child labour and recruitment into armed groups, is high. We've seen this too often in conflicts around the world; let's not let it repeat in Gaza."
