Leyen condemns Israel's 'heinous' deadly airstrikes on civilians in Gaza
Brussels, May 27 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday condemned Israel’s “heinous” airstrikes on civilian facilities in Gaza during her meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah II.
According to the European Commission’s statement on the meeting, von der Leyen said: “The expansion of Israel’s military operations in Gaza, targeting civilian infrastructure – including a school serving as a shelter for displaced Palestinian families – and killing civilians, including children, is heinous.”
According to local health authorities, Israeli airstrikes on Monday killed at least 52 people, 31 of whom were in a school-turned-shelter and were struck while sleeping, causing belongings to catch fire.
