Leyen: Free trade must be fair, relations with China need rebalancing
Brussels, July 24 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized fair competition and market access in EU-China trade relations.
Before her meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, von der Leyen stated that Europe believes in free trade and its power to bring prosperity.
Highlighting the need for fairness, she said: “We must address issues such as market access, overcapacity, and export controls.”
Von der Leyen also raised the need to “rebalance” EU-China relations, stating that it would benefit both the European Union and China.
