The accident occurred on the A9 highway from Berlin to Zurich, German newspaper Bild reported. Five ambulance helicopters were on duty, according to the information provided by rescue personnel in the region. Police confirmed to German newspaper Bild that five people had died.

It was stated that there were 53 passengers and 2 drivers on the bus. German Berliner Zeitung writes, citing sources in the rescue agency, that 50 people are feared to be injured, 10 of them seriously.

The bus left the road for an unknown reason, hit a tree on the side of the road and overturned, Bild reported, adding that the road was closed in both directions. According to German media, nearby emergency services are preparing to receive the injured.
