Media: Iranian officials ready to resume talks with the US
Moscow, June 17 (Hibya) – Various media outlets reported that Iranian officials are ready to resume negotiations with the United States.
The Washington Post, citing sources, reported that Iranian officials told mediators they are ready to restart talks with the US but first want Israel to stop its attacks.
The report said: “Iranian officials told mediators they are ready to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, but first want Israel to halt its attacks.”
The report noted that efforts to initiate ceasefire talks are being led by Oman and Qatar.
According to Axios, the White House is considering a possible meeting this week between US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
CNN, citing a source, reported that President Donald Trump had previously instructed his team to arrange a meeting with Iranian officials as soon as possible. He ordered a meeting of the National Security Council and preparations for a session in the White House Situation Room. Prior to this, he and Secretary of State Marco Rubio had decided to leave the G7 summit in Canada early.
