Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Mehmet Emin Coruş achieved this significant success with a photograph he took in the Pazar district of Tokat. The award-winning photo depicts a farmer carrying a newborn buffalo calf to a shelter to protect it from the cold, with the mother buffalo following them, keeping her eyes on her calf. Coruş's photograph was praised by the jury for reflecting the pure bond and silent cooperation between humans, animals, and nature.

Coruş’s photography journey started when he worked as a baker in Tokat and received a Huawei phone as a gift. Previously, Coruş had won first place in the Turkish leg of the XMAGE Awards in 2021 and 2022, and this year, with his global second place, he took his success to the international stage.

Unable to attend the award ceremony, Mehmet Emin Coruş addressed the participants in a recorded video: "Once upon a time, while kneading dough and wandering in the village, I used to dream. Now, those dreams reach the world through the camera of a Huawei phone. This award is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who creates with their heart and does not settle for what they have. Sometimes, you ignite a light from miles away. Today, I thank Huawei, who has been a lantern in this light, and everyone who believed in me."

Two more names from Turkey in the "XMAGE 100" list

The Huawei XMAGE Awards, as every year, received great interest from Turkey. Turkey continued to be among the countries with the highest participation in the competition. In addition to Mehmet Emin Coruş’s global second place, Turkish photographers Hürdoğan Keskin and Koray Özpalamutçu also made it to the "XMAGE 100" selection, achieving success by placing among the top 100 photographs in the world.

Global Creativity Platform: XMAGE Awards

Since 2017, the Huawei XMAGE Awards have received nearly 5 million photo submissions and aim to democratize mobile photography. The competition is positioned as an artistic reflection of Huawei’s XMAGE R&D brand, which encompasses optical systems, image processing algorithms, and patented technologies.

In the 2025 jury, there were respected figures from the field, including Pulitzer Prize-winning photographers and Paris Photo Director Florence Bourgeois. The three major winners of the "Photographer of the Year" award were presented with $10,000 USD each to support their future projects.
