Milatovic: Freedom and responsibility are the foundation of our state
Podgorica, May 20 (Hibya) – Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic delivered a speech at the ceremony held ahead of Independence Day on May 21, where the country’s highest state decorations were awarded.
In his speech, President Milatovic emphasized that values such as freedom, dignity, and responsibility are the cornerstones of Montenegro’s statehood.
He noted that this was his first time fulfilling this honorable duty as president and added: “These awards are not just recognition of individual achievements, but also a reflection of Montenegro’s will to recognize and preserve its finest values.”
Milatovic also highlighted the special meaning of this year’s ceremony, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism: “These awards represent gratitude on behalf of our citizens and a mark of respect for those who have left a legacy in Montenegro’s future.”
He concluded by expressing his hope that the ceremony marks the beginning of a stronger and more enduring state approach to recognizing citizens who contribute to the country.
