In a statement, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Russian forces conducted one of the largest drone attacks on Zaporizhzhia overnight.

The statement noted that the first wave occurred late on the evening of January 1 and caused three fires, while the second attack took place on the night of January 2 and set a shopping center on fire. The ministry’s statement also said:

“In addition, Russian forces carried out more than 700 attacks during the day on 27 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, including hundreds of drone attacks and artillery fire. In a single day, more than 50 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure were received. Two people were injured.”
