In Australia, the ASX 200 index rose 0.35 percent to 8,695.30 points. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index fell 0.08 percent to 66,312.50 points.
In India, the Nifty 50 index lost 1.18 percent to fall to 22,867.85 points. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index rose 0.16 percent to 24,666.09 points, while China's Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.74 percent to 3,820.819 points.
