Netanyahu said he is ready to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire
Stockholm, February 20 (Hibya) - After a long delay, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced his readiness to talk about the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire. He appointed one of his closest advisors, cabinet minister and former Israeli ambassador to Washington, Ron Dermer, to lead the Israeli delegation in the negotiations.
Hamas stated that it is prepared to release all remaining hostages in a single session if the ceasefire agreement with Israel enters its second phase next month. This statement was made before today's scheduled release.
Dermer will replace the heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet security services, who had been leading the negotiations so far and had often clashed with Netanyahu over his reluctance to advance the ceasefire.
In the final steps of the first phase, Hamas will hand over the bodies of four Israeli hostages on Thursday, including two small children from the same family. The group will release six hostages on Sunday and transfer four more bodies next Thursday.
