Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's visit to Kyrgyzstan.

According to the ministry, Shehbaz Sharif will visit Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 2, 2026, at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. Sharif will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and senior officials.

During the visit, Shehbaz Sharif will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of State meeting and the SCO Plus Summit. Sharif will also assume, on behalf of Pakistan, the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for the 2026-2027 term.

Sharif is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of participating countries on the sidelines of the SCO meetings and to attend the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games on August 31.

As part of the visit, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to discuss Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations during a bilateral meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov on September 2.

The talks will address the development of bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, energy, regional connectivity, education, tourism and people-to-people relations. The sides will also exchange views on regional and international developments and cooperation on regional and multilateral platforms.

Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan are based on shared history, faith and cultural affinity, as well as common goals of peace, connectivity and prosperity. The ministry said the visit would contribute to strengthening the momentum generated by recent high-level contacts and advancing bilateral cooperation.
