Pakistani and Austrian foreign ministers meet in New York
New York, September 23 (Hibya)-Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar met with Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to a statement from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, the meeting reviewed the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Austria and emphasized the commitment to further strengthening cooperation.
The parties reportedly discussed cooperation in various areas, particularly trade, investment, economic relations, education and people-to-people ties.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East. Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law.
Austrian Foreign Minister Meinl-Reisinger was reported to have appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in supporting regional peace and stability and highlighted the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement in addressing regional and global issues.
Ishaq Dar also emphasized the importance of the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties, while the sides were reported to have agreed to maintain close contact in areas of mutual interest.
