Pentagon: Destroying missiles over Ukraine means involvement in conflict
Washington, October 4 (Hibya)—Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said the United States believes Kyiv is capable of independently defending itself against Russian aggression and that Washington's participation in destroying missiles over Ukraine would be a form of involvement in the conflict.
Asked whether the US plans to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine from Romanian or Polish territory, Sabrina Singh said, “That would involve us in the conflict in a different way. In our view, Ukraine can successfully defend itself against Russian aggression.”
Singh also said that Washington would “continue to provide the necessary support” to Kyiv but stressed that there would be no question of sending American troops to Ukrainian territory.
“The President has committed that the United States will not send troops to Ukraine. However, we support it in its efforts to regain its sovereign territory.”
