Philippine authorities pay cash for catching mosquitoes
Manila, February 20 (Hibya) - Village authorities in the Philippines are distributing cash rewards to residents who catch mosquitoes as part of efforts to combat the dengue fever outbreak.
During the program launch on Wednesday, residents of Addition Hills village in Metro Manila lined up with plastic cups and bags containing the mosquitoes they had caught to claim their rewards. Mosquito hunters receive one Philippine peso (1.7 US cents) for every five mosquitoes.
