Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Prevot spoke about the latest U.S. statements concerning imported generic medicines.

Emphasizing the importance of the statements, Prevot said that the latest U.S. remarks on imported generic medicines fully deserve Europe's attention.

Stressing that pharmaceutical supply chains are global and highly interconnected, Prevot warned: "Anyone who places barriers on them risks higher costs and a less secure supply for patients both here and elsewhere."

Highlighting the common approach Europe should adopt, Prevot said: "Europe must respond in unity, in a way that serves everyone's interests, while safeguarding both innovation and an open and secure supply chain."
