Prevot: Reforms must be fair and must not slow the economy
Brussels, November 2 (Hibya) – Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot stated that savings measures and reforms are necessary to restore public finances to a healthy state, emphasizing that these steps must be fair and must not harm the economy.
Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said that the government had implemented significant reforms since the beginning of its term, but further reforms were still needed.
Prevot stated that preventing the country from descending into chaos was the government's responsibility. He emphasized that reforms must not slow the economy, undermine the functioning of public institutions or overlook the most vulnerable members of society.
Noting that no public institution was exempt from the obligation to make savings, Prevot said that since the government took office, most savings had come from reducing expenditure rather than generating additional revenue.
