Putin's advisor optimistic about talks with the U.S.
Moscow, April 5 (Hibya) – Kirill Dmitriev, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top advisors and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said he was pleased with meetings held with senior U.S. officials in Washington.
Dmitriev said that during his two-day trip to the United States, he discussed “renewing dialogue between Moscow and Washington.” He praised the Trump administration and expressed willingness to overcome differences with the U.S.
In an interview with Russian media, he stated that discussions included resuming direct flights between the two countries, cooperation in the Arctic, potential mineral extraction, and possible investments by U.S. companies in Russia. “We see how eager American companies are to return to Russia, and many want to fill the gap left by European firms,” he added.
Despite Dmitriev’s positive tone, the Kremlin announced today that no direct meeting is currently planned between Trump and Putin.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at today’s NATO summit in Brussels that Trump’s patience is wearing thin and he is “not interested in falling into the pit of endless negotiations.” He said Russia must clearly show its willingness to accept a ceasefire and peace in Ukraine.
“We won’t keep this going forever. We have a limited timeframe. We want to see if they’re ready for peace. And that time is approaching,” Rubio stated.
