Qatar's Foreign Ministry implements new guide defining diplomatic duties
Doha, June 29 (Hibya) - Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a new guide defining and classifying the duties of diplomatic and consular personnel.
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a new guide defining and classifying the duties of diplomatic and consular personnel.
The regulation, which entered into force under Ministerial Decision No. 34 of 2026 signed by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, aims to clarify duties and responsibilities within the diplomatic service.
In a statement, the ministry said the new guide was prepared to strengthen the institutional structure, improve operational efficiency, enhance accountability, and make career planning more systematic.
The guide is intended to serve as a standard reference document for diplomatic and consular personnel working both at the Ministry's headquarters and at Qatar's missions abroad.
The regulation is also expected to support recruitment processes and professional development by clearly defining job responsibilities, improving institutional alignment, and creating a more effective diplomatic service structure.
