Resort fire in Bayahibe: Portuguese authorities monitoring developments
Bayahibe, June 20 (Hibya) - Portugal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it is closely monitoring the situation of Portuguese citizens in the area following a major fire at a resort in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic.
Portugal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is following with concern the major fire that occurred at a resort in the Bayahibe region of the Dominican Republic.
The statement noted that the Portuguese Embassy in Mexico and the Honorary Consul in the region are closely monitoring the situation of the eight Portuguese citizens who were at the facility during the incident. All of them are reported to be in good health, and safe evacuation procedures are being carried out.
Authorities also stated that the relocation process is continuing in order to ensure the individuals' return to Portugal under appropriate conditions.
The statement further expressed condolences to the family of the Italian citizen who lost his life in the incident and conveyed a message of solidarity to all those affected by the fire.
