Rubio: We are redirecting foreign aid programs to align with U.S. interests
Washington, March 28 (Hibya) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that foreign aid programs will be redirected to directly align with what is best for the United States and its citizens.
Rubio emphasized that properly executed foreign aid can advance national interests, protect borders, and strengthen partnerships with key allies.
He noted that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has long strayed from its original mission, stating: “As a result, gains were minimal and costs were very high. Thanks to President Trump, this misguided and financially irresponsible period has come to an end.”
Rubio added that foreign aid programs will now be fully aligned with U.S. interests, stating: “We are continuing core life-saving programs and making strategic investments that strengthen our partners and our own nation.”
