NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made a statement on allied defence spending, production capacity, and the agenda of the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara.

Emphasizing the importance of strong defence, Rutte said: "I welcome the United Kingdom's Defence Investment Plan. A stronger UK defence makes us all safer."

Referring to the agreed budget targets and strategic planning, Rutte stated: "This is a good step toward the goal agreed in The Hague last year of allocating 3.5 percent of GDP to defence. Defence spending and production will be a major focus of next week's NATO Summit."
