Saar: We will cancel the visas of Australia's representatives in Palestine
Jerusalem, August 18 (Hibya) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced that Israel has decided to cancel the visas of Australia's representatives to the Palestinian Authority, adding that Australia's Ambassador to Israel has been informed of the decision.
Foreign Minister Saar stressed that the decision was made to cancel the visas of Australia's representatives to the Palestinian Authority, noting that the Australian Ambassador to Israel had recently been informed of this.
Saar also stated that Israel's Embassy in Canberra has been instructed to carefully review official Australian visa applications for entry into Israel, adding:
“This decision follows Australia's recognition of the ‘State of Palestine’ and its unjust refusal to grant visas to a number of Israeli figures, including former Minister Ayelet Shaked and Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee Chairman MK Simcha Rotman.”
Saar added: “While antisemitism is spreading in Australia, including acts of violence against Jews and Jewish institutions, the Australian government chooses to fuel it with baseless accusations that the visit of Israeli figures would disrupt public order and harm Australia’s Muslim population. This is disgraceful and unacceptable!”
