Scores killed in Israeli strike near Aleppo
Stockholm, June 3 (Hibya) - An unknown number of people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting positions near the Syrian city of Aleppo on Monday, Syrian state media reported, citing a military source.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a statement in X that 12 militants were killed.
This was the second attack on the country in less than a week, following a series of airstrikes since Hamas invaded Israel on October 7. Some sources said the targets were linked to Iranian-backed forces in the region. Israel does not usually comment on airstrikes in Syria.
The strikes early Monday “caused several deaths and some material damage,” the source said. Independent sources have not reported further details so far.
On May 29, Israel launched airstrikes on central Syria and the coastal town of Baniyas, according to Syrian state media. These strikes killed a child and injured ten civilians.
