Severe winter storm alert in the U.S.
Washington, December 29 (Hibya) – Due to a severe winter storm expected to affect the Midwest and Northeast regions of the United States, thousands of flights were delayed and blizzard and icing warnings were issued in many states.
According to CCTV and reports in the U.S. media, the severe winter storm expected to impact the Midwest and Northeast states poses a risk to more than 40 million people.
As of midday Sunday, more than 3,500 flights were delayed nationwide, while over 400 flights were canceled. Authorities warned that transportation could become even more difficult, especially in the Midwest.
Blizzard warnings were issued for parts of North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Michigan, with snow accumulations in Michigan expected to reach up to 61 centimeters in some areas.
The statement noted that preparations were intensified for heavy snowfall in cities such as Minneapolis and Green Bay, while visibility dropped to near zero in some areas stretching from North Dakota to Iowa.
