Shaheen calls on the Netherlands to recognize the State of Palestine
Ramallah, September 9 (Hibya) – Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Farsin Aghabekian Shaheen, held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, David Van Weel.
During the call, political and humanitarian developments in the occupied Palestinian territories were discussed.
Shaheen informed his Dutch counterpart about the catastrophic conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli aggression, stressing that the only solution is to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution.
Minister Shaheen called on the Netherlands to recognize the State of Palestine as a fundamental step towards this solution.
Minister Van Weel, for his part, emphasized that the Palestinian issue is a priority for him and that his country is determined to play a constructive role on behalf of the Palestinian Authority. He noted that the Netherlands will participate at the highest level in the international peace conference in New York and will continue its efforts for a ceasefire.
