Snowfall in Serbia disrupts transport routes
Belgrade, January 5 (Hibya) – Heavy snowfall across Serbia has caused snow depth to exceed 20 centimeters in some areas. Due to adverse weather conditions, traffic in the capital Belgrade has been gridlocked, while power outages and flight cancellations have been reported nationwide.
According to CCTV, the heavy snowfall affecting many parts of Serbia has negatively impacted daily life. In the country, where snow depth has locally exceeded 20 centimeters, icy and slippery roads have led to major traffic congestion in Belgrade.
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, numerous flights were canceled or delayed due to heavy snowfall and low temperatures. In addition to transport disruptions, power outages were reported in various parts of the country due to damage to energy lines.
The Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia issued a warning that sleet and freezing rain are expected in the central parts of the country from Monday through Wednesday.
