Tajani holds talks with Turkish counterpart Fidan
Rome, August 4 (Hibya) – Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he discussed the situation in Lebanon, the Gaza ceasefire process and regional security issues during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Tajani said Italy appreciates Türkiye's contribution to the agreement on the disarmament of Hamas.

Tajani said they primarily discussed the situation in Lebanon and expressed hope that the negotiations continuing in Rome would represent a new step toward the implementation of a comprehensive agreement.
Emphasizing the importance of strengthening the ceasefire, Tajani said that an international presence in the region should continue in the future.
Tajani also noted that developments in Gaza were discussed and said that Italy appreciates Türkiye's role in reaching an agreement on the disarmament of Hamas.
He stated that this step is important for achieving a "just and lasting peace" in the Middle East.
The two ministers also underlined the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea for energy security and international trade.
Tajani said Italy and Türkiye are determined to continue cooperation in resolving regional crises and strengthening political and economic relations.
