Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani announced that he had held a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Heidelberg.

Stating that they share a common vision regarding Europe’s role and the need to strengthen the European Union’s action in the fields of security, competitiveness and migration, Tajani said: “We will continue our close coordination with Berlin in order to reach a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and the Middle East as quickly as possible.”

Tajani added: “The next Italy–Germany Intergovernmental Summit, planned to be held in Rome in January, will be an important opportunity to further strengthen our relations at all levels.”
