The total number of vaccinated children in Gaza exceeds 161,000
Geneva, September 4 (Hibya) - The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reported that the total number of children vaccinated against polio in Gaza has exceeded 161,000 so far.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of WHO, stated that on the second day of the polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, it is estimated that about 74,000 children under the age of 10 have been vaccinated. Ghebreyesus said: "So far, the total number of vaccinated children has exceeded 161,000."
He added that the campaign continued on the third day: "It is expected that most of the remaining children in central Gaza will be vaccinated by the end of the day. Our teams are determined to ensure that no child is missed despite ongoing displacements. We call on all parties to continue to respect humanitarian pauses."
The Director-General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, emphasized that they continue to call for lasting peace to ensure a healthier future for the children of Gaza.
