Trump Reiterates Desire to Take Control of Greenland
Washington, February 20 (Hibya) - U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on Thursday evening that the United States needs Greenland "for national security reasons".
During a Q&A session with journalists aboard Air Force One, Trump stated: "And we need it – perhaps more importantly – for international security."
When asked if he saw this as part of discussions with Europeans and Putin, he responded: "No, no. We must have Greenland for national security reasons."
The debate over the island’s ownership heated up in December when Trump expressed his views on it via Truth Social.
The U.S. president’s request was rejected by Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte B. Egede and Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
