Trump Starts Punishing Colombia with Tariffs
Washington, January 27 (Hibya) - U.S. President Donald Trump imposed high tariffs on Colombian goods after the country's government refused to allow military planes carrying deported migrants to land, threatening further sanctions. The Colombian president responded in kind.
On Sunday, Trump announced on social media that his administration would take various actions against Colombia, including imposing a 25% tariff on all goods from Colombia, to be raised to 50% after a week.
He also announced a travel ban and immediate visa cancellation for Colombian officials and their "allies," as well as visa sanctions and increased customs inspections for passengers and cargo from Colombia.
