Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said in a statement that France's action against Russia's shadow fleet sent a clear message that these vessels cannot operate with impunity.

Emphasizing the need to act together to prevent sanctions evasion by sea, Tsahkna drew attention to the importance of using all available measures under international law.

Tsahkna said the revenue sources of shadow fleet vessels that keep Russian oil revenues flowing and contribute to financing its war against Ukraine should be cut off. Noting that it is important not only to impose sanctions but also to monitor and enforce them effectively, Tsahkna voiced support for France's move.
