UK Prime Minister Starmer condemns unrest spreading to many British cities
London, August 4 (Hibya) - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has condemned the violent protests that have taken place in cities across the UK in recent days.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the police have his "full support" in taking action against "extremists" who have attacked police officers and tried to "sow hatred".
"The right to freedom of expression and the violence we have seen are very different. There is no excuse for any form of violence.
Starmer condemned the protests that have spread across the UK when he met with the deputy prime minister, home secretary, and justice secretary.
The demonstrations, counter-demonstrations and unrest that began after three girls attending a Taylor Swift workshop at a dance school in Southport were killed in a knife attack on July 29 continued yesterday in cities across the UK.
Here, right-wing extremists took to the streets after false rumours that the 17-year-old suspect was a Syrian asylum seeker under the scrutiny of terrorism authorities.
The Guardian reported that the incident also brought anti-racist protesters onto the streets, and according to police, clashes between the two groups were at the heart of Saturday's unrest.
In addition to London, there are reports of unrest in Liverpool, Hull, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds and Belfast in Northern Ireland.
