Ukraine cuts diplomatic ties with Nicaragua
Kyiv, October 2 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced the official severance of diplomatic relations between the two countries after Nicaragua recognized Russia’s “sovereignty” over the occupied Ukrainian territories.
Minister Sybiha described Nicaragua’s move as a deliberate attempt to undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that this was a clear violation of Ukraine’s Constitution, the UN Charter, and the fundamental principles of international law.
Sybiha stated that Nicaragua was attempting to legitimize Russia’s occupation of Crimea, adding that this stance made it a complicit party to Russia’s crime of aggression.
“The recognition of the Russian occupation is legally null and void and will never change Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders,” said Sybiha, emphasizing that Ukraine would respond resolutely to any attempt targeting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
