UN: 90% of people in Gaza have been displaced since the war began
Stockholm, July 4 (Hibya) - According to the UN humanitarian aid agency, since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, about 90% of the population of the Gaza Strip has been displaced at least once.
Andrea De Domenico, head of the UN's OCHA agency in the Palestinian territories, said on Wednesday that approximately 1.9 million people were thought to have been displaced in Gaza.
De Domenico told reporters, "We estimate that nine out of ten people in the Gaza Strip have been displaced at least once since October, and unfortunately sometimes up to ten times."
He explained the increase by saying, "Previously, we estimated this number at 1.7 million, but after that, there was an operation in Rafah, and there were additional displacements from Rafah."
