New York, December 11 (Hibya) - UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher called for increased support to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).
UN Deputy Secretary-General Fletcher called for increased support to CERF, describing it as "a fund for everyone, by everyone."
Speaking at the 2025 Central Emergency Response Fund High-Level Pledge Event, Fletcher stated, "Just a few days ago, we launched our global humanitarian appeal for 2025. We are requesting $47 billion to help 190 million people in 72 countries."
Fletcher added, "Huge numbers, daunting numbers, but my top priority is to ensure this appeal is well-funded and to guarantee that our movement, your movement, is ready to meet the critical needs of those we serve. CERF is absolutely vital to this mission."
