UN: Nearly 600,000 Palestinians displaced in Rafah
Stockholm, May 16 (Hibya) - More than half a million people have been displaced in the southern Gaza city of Rafah since May 6.
Nearly 600,000 people, a quarter of Gaza's population, have been displaced in Rafah since May 6, as Israeli ground operations continue, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' office said in a daily press briefing.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Israeli military also issued two evacuation orders in northern Gaza on May 14 and 15. This brings to five the number of evacuation orders issued in Rafah and north Gaza since May 6.
Meanwhile, the UN Food Program announced that the threat of famine in Gaza has never been more significant.
In its latest briefing, the UN's food program WFP warned that food and fuel are about to run out in a few days, as supplies have not been received through the Kerem Shalom crossing since May 6.
