According to CCTV, the United Nations (UN) urged the parties to return to diplomacy, warning that the exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran over the past 11 days poses serious risks to global security, energy markets, and international trade.

UN Secretary-General's spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said during the daily press briefing that the military confrontation between the United States and Iran threatens regional stability.

Dujarric stressed that the UN Secretary-General wants the fighting to end, saying: "The territorial integrity of every country in the region must be respected. We need to return to diplomacy."

He noted that the conflict is affecting not only regional security but also global energy prices and international trade, adding: "This situation is making the world less safe and increasing the risk of a broader conflict."

Dujarric also said that instead of increasing global military spending, these resources should be directed toward development and humanitarian assistance.

Meanwhile, under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 18, the United States and Iran had planned to continue negotiations to reach a comprehensive agreement within 60 days. However, escalating tensions and reciprocal attacks around the Strait of Hormuz have effectively brought the talks to a standstill.

Last Saturday, Iran announced that it was suspending its commitments under the agreement, accusing the United States of violating its obligations under the MoU.

The announcement came after U.S. strikes on military targets inside Iran, while Tehran responded with retaliatory attacks against U.S. bases and facilities in the Gulf region.
