UNRWA: The right to education for Palestinian children must be protected
New York, May 22 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated that the right to education for Palestinian children must be defended.
In a statement, UNRWA said that after Israeli forces forced the closure of 6 UNRWA schools in East Jerusalem, around 800 children have been out of school since May 8.
The statement emphasized that UNRWA schools are inviolable UN facilities, and added:
“UNRWA schools must remain open to protect an entire generation of children. The right to education for Palestinian children must be protected.”
