U.S. stock futures changed little
Istanbul, Dec. 29 (Hibya) – In U.S. markets, where investors are preparing to end 2025 at strong levels, stock futures changed little on Sunday night after the S&P 500 Index climbed to new record highs.
S&P 500 futures edged slightly higher along with those tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, while Nasdaq-100 futures traded flat.
These moves followed Friday’s session, when the S&P 500 reached an intraday high of 6,945.77 before closing slightly below the flatline.
For Wall Street, 2025 has been a record year, with the benchmark index up 17.7%. The Dow has gained 14.5%, putting it on track for its strongest year since 2021, while the Nasdaq Composite posted the best performance with a 22.2% rise year to date.
Wall Street is also in the midst of the so-called Santa Claus rally, a historically strong period for equities. According to Stock Trader’s Almanac, since 1950 the S&P 500 has averaged gains of more than 1% during the final five trading days of the year and the first two days of the new year.
The U.S. economic data calendar is relatively light this week; however, analysts say investors will get another look at the Federal Reserve’s thinking, as minutes from the Fed’s December meeting are set to be released on Wednesday.
