Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel shared details of his conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During the call, the repercussions of crises in Latin America on the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ territories in the region, as well as global security issues, were assessed.

Highlighting regional risks and transatlantic ties, Van Weel said: “It was good to speak with Secretary Rubio. We discussed the impact of developments in Venezuela and the region on the Caribbean, including our Kingdom’s Caribbean territories. Stability and security in the region are our number one priority. We value our strong transatlantic relations.”

Referring also to support for Ukraine, Van Weel concluded: “We also discussed Ukraine and tomorrow’s Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris. The Netherlands is committed to lasting peace and remains resolute in its support for Ukraine.”
