WHO Chief Ghebreyesus condemns Bondi Beach attack
Geneva, 14 December (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described the attack that occurred during Hanukkah celebrations as “barbaric” and called for vigilance against antisemitism.
Ghebreyesus condemned the armed attack that took place during the Hanukkah festival at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, saying, “Security and peace are the foundation of health; today, they were undermined by hatred.”
Stating that he stands with all communities in Australia, especially the Jewish community, Ghebreyesus emphasized the need for global vigilance against antisemitism. He wished a speedy recovery to the injured and extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
