Zelensky held talks with EU Council President Costa
Kyiv, May 21 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone call with European Union Council President Antonio Costa.
Zelensky provided a brief update on the peace process and the next steps in coordination with Ukraine’s partners.
He noted that preparations are ongoing for negotiations with the Russian side regarding a ceasefire, humanitarian issues, and prisoner exchanges, and thanked the EU for approving the 17th sanctions package against Russia.
Antonio Costa emphasized the importance of coordinating all sanction decisions with partners and confirmed that stricter sanctions will be implemented if Russia refuses to accept a ceasefire.
Zelensky also discussed the launch of negotiations for Ukraine’s EU membership.
