Zelensky: Our priority now is strengthening air defense
Kyiv, Jan. 14 (Hibya) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, assessing Russia’s large-scale air attacks targeting civilian areas and energy infrastructure, called for faster allied support to strengthen air defense systems.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a statement regarding the missile and drone attacks carried out by Russia overnight.
Detailing the regions targeted and the munitions used, Zelensky said: “Last night Russia continued its attacks on our residential areas and energy resources. The Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Kherson regions were under attack. The main target is energy facilities — critical infrastructure that ensures normal life for our people: heating, lighting.”
Thanking the defense forces and reiterating the call for international support, Zelensky stated: “We thank the defenders who repel Russian air attacks day and night. Our priority now is to strengthen our air defense, first and foremost our missile systems.”
Emphasizing the strategic importance of air defense reaching full capacity, Zelensky concluded: “If we can counter these Russian attacks 100 percent, Putin’s terror will lose all meaning. This is their advantage now, and the Russian Federation is relying on it. We must take it away from them.”
