Zelensky: Russia is prolonging the war and deserves stronger global pressure
Kyiv, August 11 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia has made no move to accept the world’s numerous demands and to stop the massacres.
Zelensky noted that another week had passed without Russia taking any initiative to accept the world’s many demands and stop the massacres. He emphasized that in the last 24 hours alone, there had been 137 clashes on the front, and the Russian army had not reduced its pressure. “In the area of responsibility of the 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade in the Pokrovsk sector of Donetsk region, 209 occupiers were neutralized during the week of August 4-10,” he said.
He added that Ukrainian forces are working to hold positions, destroy or drive out the occupiers: “During the same period, last week, the Russians used more than a thousand air bombs and around 1,400 attack aircraft against Ukraine. Missile strikes also continue. We are defending the lives of our people and strengthening our air defense. This is the situation in the war, and the diplomatic situation should match it.”
Zelensky stressed that by prolonging the war, Russia deserves stronger global pressure: “Russia refuses to stop the massacres and therefore should not receive any rewards or advantages. And this is not only a moral stance but also a rational one.”
