The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a phone conversation with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Zelensky wished Pope Francis a speedy recovery and said:

"The Holy See has received a list of Ukrainians detained in Russia. We expect your support for their release. The agreement on prisoner exchange and an unconditional 30-day full temporary ceasefire are the first swift steps that will significantly bring us closer to a just and lasting peace. Ukraine is ready to take these steps because the Ukrainian people want peace more than anyone else."
